As of today, Tuesday November 27, 2012 the people working at the Abner Branch Coal mine of Bledsoe Coal Corporation will meet Friday at 7:00 AM.

No official news yet on what’s really going on. A lot of rumors are going on around the situation concerning James River Subsidiaries on Topix.com

Blue Diamond Coal Company a Subsidiary of James River Coal Corp. laid off around 80 miners November 20, 2012.

Bledsoe another Subsidiary of James River decided to take all the week of Thanksgiving off, has just called its workers from the Abner Branch Mine to tell them not to come back till next Wednesday 28 day of November. They did say to call the mine Monday to know for sure when to come back.

UPDATE: The Abner Branch Mine will still stay idle until a meeting that will be held either Wednesday or Thursday. The only ones working are the one who are on salary. We are being told that we can go sign up on unemployment.
Under the Severance Law an unexpected layoff means the company has to pay it’s workers up to so many days after they are laid off. As of now this is not our warning. I do not know if this could interfere with signing up on unemployment.

I do know that the big concern of running the Abner Branch mine is being on the P.O.V. And I do know that if they do shut the mine down the only ones they may keep would be the ones on salary. Everything else you might hear may be rumors. Still no official news from the heads of James River Coal or Bledsoe Coal.
